Zomato, an online food ordering company is all over the news for a week now.
On the 9th of march a woman named Hitesha Chandranee, a make-up artist and model living in Bangalore, posted a video on Instagram saying that the Zomato delivery boy punched her in the face, took her order, and fled.
Going into details, Hitesh revealed her experience, that the order was placed on March 9th at 3.30 pm. She alleged that the delivery was supposed to take place at 4.30 pm but the order did not arrive on time. The Bangalore-based content creator and make-up artist Hitesha was speaking to a customer care executive about the order delay and asked them to cancel the order.
Meanwhile, the delivery boy arrived at her place with the order.
Delivery executive Kamaraj, who got into a heated argument on the occasion, angrily clashed. He forcibly entered the house and punched me. She said he later took the order and fled too. Posting a video related to this.
Hitesha questioned whether zomato’s services were secure. And was in tears as she pleaded people to please support her.
Hitesha Chandranee posted a series of snippets in a video on her Instagram page with blood dripping from her nose and giving updates about her situation along with a series of accusations on the delivery guy.
Zomato immediately expressed regret over the incident and assured that it would investigate the situation in detail with the help of the police and appropriate action would be taken and that this would not happen in the future.
Zomato CEO, Deepinder Goyal said, “We are trying to make a decision that will help both parties in this incident.”
Zomato’s founder said we are looking into the medical costs of the victim. On the other hand, we are also in contact with the delivery boy Kamaraj.
Meanwhile, Zomato had suspended Kamaraj. In this case, Kamaraj was arrested by the electronic city police.
Zomato Co-Founder said that Kamaraj has delivered 5000 orders so far and has received an average rating of 4.75 from customers out of 5 ratings. He says it is one of the highest gig ratings ever.
Kamaraj said he has been associated with zomato for 26 months. Things quickly turned in a different direction when Kamaraj told the police his version of the story. That he did not attack the woman, but the opposite had happened.
The delivery boy said “I went to her apartment. To give the order. The woman started screaming at me angrily because the delivery was delayed. I even apologized to her and requested her to not complain as it will affect my work. I was waiting for the money as it was cash on delivery order. She said she was chatting with the chat support and asked me to wait. I agreed and waited for her to pay me but she demanded on taking the order for free. I told her it was not possible as it was a COD and asked for money, she started using vulgar language. Zomato Support canceled the order. I asked her to give me that food back. She refused to do so and started behaving aggressively.”
“I took the order which was next to the door and went back from there. She started to run after me and beat me with slippers and also took shoes and began to throw them at me. I tried to shield myself with my hand in order to protect myself. In this process her hand hit her face and the ring in her hand scratched her nose and she started bleeding.” he explained.
In a video released by Zomato employee Kamaraj, he said, “I have no intention of filing complain against anyone. My dad died 15 years ago. My mother is suffering from diabetes. I am the only one in my family to earn. Please Save me from this case.”
The video released by Kamaraj went viral on social media, the support for him is getting stronger.

After the follow-up on the two side stories of the incident, there is a wild discussion going on, on social media platforms.
Bangalore Police have registered a case against Hitesha Chandranee in this regard, following a complaint lodged by Zomato Boy, Zomato has been aiding Kamaraj by paying him from interim and also covering up the legal expenses.
Electronic City police said Chandranee has been charged under Sections 355 (assault), 504 (humiliation), and 506 (criminal action).
When police contacted Hitesha to inform her to appear for investigation, only to discover that she has left the city and is in Maharashtra at her aunt’s house.
The police have asked to appear for the investigation as soon as possible and warned her she will be arrested if not done so.
