Several polls and surveys in United States reveals President Trump and his Republican allies are responsible for the government shutdown though it was not surprising to the president.
In one of the recent polls conducted by Ipsos/Reuters it is learned almost half of the people surveyed blamed Trump for the government shutdown and just 33 percent said the fault is with the Democrats. About one-fourth of the Americans said the shutdown is rational over the matter of money for wall.
The Democrats are to take charge of the House next week and it is learned clean continuing resolution will be passed to the earliest to open the government.
Then, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) will be having four options and the first is to put clean resolution on the floor and see whether Trump veto it. If yes, the override needs 67 votes and this will be something humiliating for the president.
The second option could be to pass all appropriations bills and reserve wall funding vote separately.
The third option is to increase the budget for border security without any permission for wall building and final alternative is to give Trump his $5 billion in exchange for legalizing dreamers.
However, it is true the wall is central importance Trump and he is ready to fight for it.
Newt Gingrich argued, “Why shouldn’t Congress take advantage of the best opportunity in years to give the dreamers the open door they deserve?”
