United States has praised India in its annual Country Report on Terrorism for counter-terrorism actions against Pakistan-based terror groups.
The report reveals, “India continued to experience attacks, including by Pakistan-based terrorist organizations as well as tribal and Maoist insurgents. Indian authorities blamed Pakistan for cross-border attacks in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Last year New Delhi further intensified counter-terrorism cooperation and information sharing with Washington.
The two nations pledged to strengthen cooperation too against all the terror threats from ISIS, Jaish-e-Mohammad, al-Qaida, D-Company, Lashkar-e-Toiba and other terror groups.
Leaders of both the countries directed officials in 2017 to establish a new mechanism for cooperation on terrorist designations.
Praising further the State Department added India monitored the domestic threat from ISIS, al-Qaida and other terror groups.
The department cited an example of the arrest of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh leader Mohammad Idris earlier this year from Kolkata.
Idris was in a hideout and he is alleged to have involvement in the July 2016 Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Dhaka, capital city of Bangladesh.
