Chief medical officer Dr SP Chaudhary said a case has been registered against quack Rajendra Kumar, living in a neighboring village, in Unnao and an investigation has been launched by the health department.
Chaudhary added, “Seeing the high number cases, the health department constituted a two-member committee which visited various settlements of Bangarmau to investigate the reasons behind the spike.”
He further continued that a team of investigator visited Premganj and Chakmirpur areas of Bangarmau before filing a report. Screening of camps was held too at three places on January 24, 25 and 27 where 566 people were examined and twenty-one were found infected with the virus.
The investigator said Kumar used common syringe for injection defining cheaper treatment.
Chief medical officer said COMMENTSA case has been registered against Kumar in Bangarmau police station and the affected ones have been referred to Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) centre in Kanpur.
ART helps in preventing further transmission of the HIV virus. It consists of a combination of antiretroviral (ARV) drugs to help suppress and stop the progression of the virus.
