Oxfordshire is well known for its county town of Oxford and the University there, but it is also a lovely place to visit when taking a culinary tour of England. From the market town of Banbury, famous for its cakes, to a pub lunch at one of the oldest inns in the county and a day out for the family at a farm centre, there’s plenty to interest everyone.

The Lord Kitchener pub claims to be one of the oldest pubs in Oxfordshire. The menu offers traditional pub food such as chicken and chips and steak and ale pie as well as more contemporary international dishes such as Thai vegetable stir fry with rice and a vegetarian lasagne.

In the colder months, there is a roaring log fire to warm the culinary traveller and patio heaters in the garden for those cooler spring and autumn nights. In the summer, the landlord often provides barbecues and spit roasts for an interesting and tasty change. The Millets Farm Centre is well signposted and can be found on Kingston Road, Frilford, near Abingdon, Oxfordshire OX13 5HB and is a fascinating place for the culinary traveller and family to visit for the day. As well as selling meat, fish and locally grown fresh vegetables in the farm shop throughout the year, there is also plenty to interest children.
