Bollywood’s legendary female superstar is back to home in her Mumbai’s Lokhandwala residence for the last time. Sridevi’s mortal remains have been flown back from Dubai where she died on Saturday drowned accidentally in her hotel bathtub.
Her sudden, unexpected death triggered disbelief as well as grief with questions whether it was accident or murder. However, Dubai authorities have confirmed the 54-year-old was accidentally drowned and announced the case has been closed. Initially it was said she died out of cardiac arrest.
At around 9:30 p.m. the Embraer jet of industrialist Anil Ambani landed in Mumbai with the mortal remains and family members including filmmaker husband Boney Kapoor and stepson Arjun Kapoor. Anil Ambani, wife Tina Ambani, and Anil Kapoor were at the Mumbai airport. The cremation is scheduled tomorrow around 3.30pm.
Sridevi’s family released a statement earlier today mentioning, “On behalf of Khushi, Janhvi, Boney Kapoor, the entire Kapoor and Ayyappan families, a sincere thanks to the media for your continued sensitivity and support during this emotional moment.”
Her body will be kept tomorrow at Celebration Sports Club in Lokhandwala for people and media, without camera and other recording devices, to pay respects from 9.30am to 12.30pm. At 2pm she will be taken to Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery.
