Cricket lovers witnessed Monday one of the most stylish fans to cheer for the West Indies at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, in a match against Sri Lanka.
Singer Rihanna was seen cheering for Jason Holder and his team. She met Chris Gayle and all the West Indies men after the match.
A video shared by the ICC Cricket World Cup official Twitter handle reveals the Barbados-born fashionista met the superstars in the team’s dressing room.
The global icon Rihanna had a West Indies cricket cap on her head and had signed a cricket bat too by Chris Gayle.
The Twitter video was captioned as, “When @rihanna met the Universe Boss.”
At the stadium, the R&B superstar was seen clicking snaps and waving a flag of his favorite team. Throughout the game, she applauded the Men in maroon.
Rihanna is learned to have gone to the same school in Barbados in which all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite studied. She was a classmate of his brother Kraigg Brathwaite.
Captain Jason Holder is from Rihanna’s homeland in Barbados.
Seeing Rihanna at the stadium Holder said, “I just want to personally thank her for coming out. It’s not easy for a celebrity to come down to Durham to watch the West Indies play but I’m sure the boys felt her presence in the stands.”
Unfortunately, the Windies failed to pull off a victory and it was their sixth loss this World Cup.
