If you want to see incomparable wildlife, no better place than Ranthambore. You will be pleasantly surprised at the diversity of flora and fauna at Ranthambore National Park. It is a place, which has made a successful transition to tourism and where you can find rare animals like tiger. You will see more wildlife than you ever had in your life – large numbers of sambar, chital and nilgai, boar and an occasional gazelle, the chinkara can be seen, as also the Indian hare, mongoose and monitor lizards.

To reach Ranthambore National Park, you have to first arrive at what was once the longest railway station in the world, Sawai Madhopur. You can take a trip along the rivers Chambal in the South and Banas in the North bounding the Ranthambore National Park. Located amidst the imposing ruins of a 10th century fort, you will be extremely attracted towards the lakes and many streams, intersecting the entire park.
Wildlife Viewing
You need not worry about accommodation as there are resorts springing up almost along the entire length of the road from Sawai Madhopur to the park. After entering the Park, the first few animals you may come across are cattle, gazelle and a bunch of langurs. A little further, you can stop at a small lake known as the “Malik Talao”. This is an absolutely must-visit, as there is a large variety of birds along with a fair share of marsh crocodiles.
Wildlife safaris
To view the entire flora and fauna of this park, plan a stay of at least one night and two full days. Wildlife safaris in Ranthambore are usually undertaken in open jeeps. If luck favors, you will catch hold of the majestic sight of tigers.
Ranthambore Fort
After scrutinizing the wildlife, opt to explore the Ranthambore fort. Situated within the reserve, its entrance is right next to the park’s main gate. As you climb the fort’s steps, the more fascinated you will be by the awesome view it offered of the entire park. On reaching the highest point, you can clearly see all the animals roaming below. Your walk takes you to various historic structures that are unique in terms of design, aesthetics and quality.
