Qatar has announced ban on all products which are originating from UAE, Bahrain, Egypt and Saudi Arabia following the countries imposed an embargo on Doha.
Late Saturday a press statement from Qatar government said, “Products originating from the blockading states, which as a result of the blockade cannot pass the Gulf Cooperation Council Customs Territory, have to undergo proper import inspections and customs procedures.”
The statement further added that such steps have been taken for the safety of consumers and combat improper trafficking of goods as well in the country.
Meanwhile, a directive has been issued to find new suppliers of those goods which have been impacted with the ban.
Last June the four countries had cut diplomatic and transport ties with the state of Qatar. This led to the plunging of 40 percent of imports compared to the same period a year ago.
Without giving much details a government spokesman said all the imports coming from the four countries will go through proper inspections.
He didn’t give value of the affected goods due to fresh import ban.
