February 4 is a holy day for Hindus. It is the occasion of Mauni Amavasya and second Shahi Snan as well. A holy dip in the river Ganga, at the Sangam (junction) of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, is considered to bring good luck.
Sources said if February 4 is missed, even though both the Gandhis have zeroed themselves for the day, they can opt for February 10 on the occasion of Basant Panchami and third Shahi Snan.
Mother Sonia Gandhi too had taken a holy dip attending the Kumbh Mela in 2001.
The public zeal for Hinduism for Rahul Gandhi began in April 2015 when he visited Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand.
However, this is the first time the brother and sister will take a holy dip at the Sangam.
