British Prime Minister Theresa May said in the post-Brexit era freedom of movement will come to an end for all the European Union (EU) citizens.
She unveiled a major overhaul of the UK immigration system and added that Indian will benefit from the new rules that focus on highly-skilled migration.
In a press statement the prime minister said, “When we leave we will bring in a new immigration system that ends freedom of movement once and for all. For the first time in decades, it will be this country that controls and chooses who we want to come here.”
May added that the new rules will be based on high skills and not from where they come from. It will be an initiative to bring down low-skilled immigration.
Further details of the new rules are yet to be learned, but it is believed to be in place by 2021 after Britian’s transition period of exit will be over.
The statement added, “Successful applicants for high skilled work would be able to bring their immediate family but only if sponsored by their future employers.”
A system of faster operations is to be implemented at the security checks for visitors coming into the UK on a short-stay trip.
Presently the cap for skilled workers is 20,700 per year for the non-EU countries.
Meanwhile, it is learned the Home Secretary Sajid Javid would contour new plans at the Conservative Party annual conference, which is under process in Birmingham.
