Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists killed three policemen hours after kidnapping them on Friday morning from their homes in Kapran village of Shopian in south Kashmir. The bodies were found with multiple bullet wounds in an orchard. A fourth policeman was freed with the help of villagers.
The incident comes days after the terror group posted a threat video on social media to kill policemen unless they posted their resignations online.
According to police the villagers chased the terrorists who first fired warning shots in the air and shot at the policemen after crossing a river.
Following the killing six policemen is reported to have resigned. However, the home ministry questioned authenticity of the report saying it is “based on false propaganda by mischievous element.”
TV footage showed villagers and family members carrying the bodies back to the village.
A tweet from Kashmir police read, “We have lost 3 of our brave colleagues in a barbaric terror strike. Our tribute to the 3 martyred Jawans – Nisar Ahmad, Firdous Kuchay & Kulwant Singh. We condemn this inhuman act and assure that all the culprits shall be dealt under law.”
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said the “muscular policy” of Modi government is not working at all and dialogue is the only way for solution.
She added more policemen have similarly lost lives to the bullets of terror organizations.
