Deepika Padukone said Thursday her latest film Chhapaak is being targeted and lately the effect has been seen on IMDb website. Following her Jawaharlal Nehru University her movie has been downvoted. Ratings have changed.
She visited JNU to show her solidarity with students just ahead of the release of Chhapaak. She stood beside the protesting students and simultaneously the rating of Chhapaak on IMDb website took a hit. People in large numbers downvoted the movie.
A video shared on Twitter reveals Deepika saying, “Unhone meri IMDb rating badli hai, mera mann nahi (They have changed my IMDb rating, not my mind).”
Meanwhile, Chhapaak received positive reviews and critics applauded her performance in the movie. She plays the role of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
People in large numbers boycotted Chhapaak. An aggressive #BoycottChhapaak campaign was seen on Twitter.
The movie is directed by Meghna Gulzar in which real story of young girl Malti is told. The acid attack changed the life of Malti after she was attacked by acid.
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was released alongside Chhapaak and it raced ahead at the box office.
In two weeks after the release Chhapaak earned Rs 34.03 crore and Rs 40 crore gross at the domestic box office.
The movie was made on a Rs 35 crore budget. Its music rights was sold for Rs 3 crore and 23 crore was earned from its digital and satellite rights.
