About six years from now since she was shot by Pakistani Taliban group in the Swat valley region Nobel Peace Prize winner and activist for advocating education for girls, Malala Yousafzai, has returned to her native country.
The 20-year-old and her family met Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at prime minister’s office in capital city Islamabad.
She also met some of the female ministers at the office.
Malala said, “It’s the happiest day of my life. I still can’t believe it’s happening… I’m still 20 years odl but I’ve seen so many things in life.”
Malala is the most recognized Pakistani in the world and she was just 12 when she had to leave Pakistan.
In October 2010 she was shot on head by Taliban group for advocating education of girls. The bus carrying Malala and her friends from school to home in Swat was stopped and attacked. Two of her friends were injured too.
Malala had to airlifted abroad for treatment and she had underwent surgery. Returning back to Pakistan was not safe for her and she was taken to Britain, which she is still living and persuing her studies at Oxford University.
Meeting Malala the Pakistani PM greeted her saying, “Welcome home… When she went away, she was a child of 12. She has returned as the most prominent citizen of Pakistan.”
