Congress president Rahul Gandhi said Friday in coming days the Narendra Modi government will face series of surgical strikes by his party. He hinted one of the attacks will be based on joblessness in the country.
The word “surgical strike” has become common and allies of NDA called today’s Interim Budget announced by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal as surgical strike on the opposition.
One of the allies, Ram Vilas Paswan, said the interim budget is a second surgical strike with which the party is going into upcoming Lok Sabha elections with ballots.
The first surgical strike was on the border with bullets. Paswan said NDA will win the polls with two-thirds majority.
Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said surgical strike in Pakistan failed to prevent any bad thing and hence the so-called surgical strike in interim budget will fail too.
Meanwhile, Gandhi said Rs 6,000 annual cash offer to farmers is a pittance.
Gandhi added, “You can waive Rs 3.5 lakh crore loan of 15 people, but give only Rs 17 per day to farmers. What else is this if not an insult?”
He said Congress would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on issues related to attacks on institutions, unemployment, farmers and Rafale.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Friday’s interim budget is just a trailer to what will come after the elections.
