Movie review – Uri: The Surgical Attack

Movie review - Uri: The Surgical Attack 1

It was a fabulous year for Vicky Kaushal. Everyone was talking about his portrayal in the biopic Sanju. His act in Manmarziyaan too made movie lovers talking and now he has come in a different role, an army officer in the movie Uri: The Surgical Attack, and taking on the big screen with Yami Gautam.

Uri: The Surgical Attack is based on the 2016s surgical strike by Indian Army in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) region.

Vicky Kaushal has put good efforts in it, replicating the behavior of an army officer and showing different facets of his character.

Holding the movie on his shoulder, he is seen battling with emotion, respecting soldiers who lost lives battling with terrorists. The supporting cast like Manasi Parekh and Kriti Kulhari has brought the movie together with their crisp and done-well roles.

Director Aditya Dhar is the writer too and his story telling can be enjoyed. He has divided the story in parts to make audience understand better the movie. In fact, the movie has been divided like a book. It is educating and engaging with no unnecessary dialogues to induce patriotism and nationalism.

However, there are some minor flaws in the story as it is long and dragged with political and personal angles. The movie has a focus on intelligent agents and Indian Army and so the digs at political parties were not required. It is suggested to read about the surgical attacks before entering theatre.

This is a perfect film for those who loved watching L.O.C: Kargil and Border. The movie will make audience cry as well as laugh. Movie watchers will be proud of Indian soldiers.
