Cricket is like worship for many fans in Pakistan and defeat of the team playing against India in the World Cup match on Sunday seems not acceptable. Players are being criticized using abusive language considering the match was a horror show for them.

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has come up in defense of the players urging fans to avoid the use of abusive language in their criticism.

He tweeted, “Pls dont use bad words for the players yes u guys can criticize our performance we will bounce back InshAllah we need ur support.”

Players are facing severe backlash after losing the rain-curtailed tie match in Manchester by 89 runs.

Fans in the cricket-crazy country questioned intent and fitness levels of the players as videos of them socializing at a Manchester pub before the match went viral even though Pakistan Cricket Board has rubbished the reports.

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has been dragged into the narrative for joining her husband, senior batsman Shoaib Malik, for the outing.

The other players who are being seen in the viral videos are Wahab Riaz, Imam-ul-Haq and Imad Wasim.

Malik clarified the videos are not from June 15 when Pakistan faced India, but of June 13.

Malik added that it is sad to clarify his personal life after serving more than twenty years in International Cricket.

Pakistan’s captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was criticized too for having burgers and milkshakes on the eve of the match.

Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh defended Sarfaraz saying crickets are allowed to have burgers.
