Modi 3.0: A New Government Takes Shape with 30 Cabinet Ministers

In a historic moment, Narendra Modi was sworn in as India’s Prime Minister for a record third term, equalling the achievement of the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The grand ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan was attended by dignitaries, honour guards, and thousands of supporters. Dressed in a white kurta and blue waistcoat, PM Modi took the oath, followed by his top aides Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and Nitin Gadkari.

The event saw the presence of South Asian leaders from Bangladesh, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. Notably, leaders from China and Pakistan were absent, reflecting the complex geopolitical landscape.

The new government, led by PM Modi, includes a robust team of 30 Cabinet Ministers, 5 Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and 36 Ministers of State. Despite the BJP winning 240 seats in the recent elections, falling 32 short of a majority in the 543-member lower house, alliances with other parties helped secure a majority with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) tallying 293 seats.
