London Eye
Since opening at the millennium, the London Eye has become an iconic part of the city’s skyline, as recognizable as Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament. This giant ferris wheel takes 30 minutes to complete a full rotation, during which time passengers are treated to fantastic panoramic views of Greater London. London Aquarium
Next door to the the London Eye, in the old Town Hall, is the London Aquarium. The London Aquarium is one of the biggest in Europe, with a wide variety of freshwater and saltwater marine life. The aquarium is divided into 14 zones, each representing a different type of aquatic habitat. The aquarium regularly hosts special events for children as well as daily talks and feeds.
London Dungeon
Descend deep into the belly of the city to experience some of the grisliest parts of London’s past. The London Dungeon features several horror-themed rides and attractions. Take the Boat Ride to Hell, plummet into the depths of the dungeon in Extremis: Drop Ride to Doom, or try to find your way out of the Labyrinth of the Lost. Meet characters like Jack the Ripper and Sweeney Todd, and revisit the gruesome periods of the Great Fire of London and the Great Plague. Due to the graphic nature of some of the exhibits, the London Dungeon is best suited for older children.
London Bridge Experience and the London Tombs
The London Bridge Experience is a new attraction that takes visitors on a spine-tingling journey through the history of the London Bridge. CGI, special effects, and live actors work together to create a chilling, Hollywood-style experience. Brave visitors can also tour the London Tombs, where the remains of plague victims have been found. Like the London Dungeon, the London Bridge Experience and the London Tombs is geared towards older children and teenagers and is not suitable for young children.
Tower Bridge Exhibition
The Tower Bridge Exhibition is a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at one of London’s most magnificent and recognizable landmarks. Children and adults alike will enjoy the films and interactive displays that detail the history of Tower Bridge. The Victorian Engine Rooms, which house the original steam engines, are a big hit with children, and the views of the River Thames and London’s famous monuments from The Walkways are not to be missed.
Hamley’s Toy Shop
At first glance, Hamley’s may seem like just another toy shop, but it is much more than that. Established in 1760, Hamley’s is a London institution. The main store, located on Regent Street, features seven floors of toys and games that are sure to occupy children of all ages for hours.
