LeT suspects spotted in Tamil Nadu; Kerala on high alert

Kerala is put on high alert following intelligence reports of terrorist movement in neighboring Tamil Nadu state. People are asked to dial 112 emergency number if suspicious objects or circumstances are noticed.

Tamil Nadu police has confirmed the terrorists in the state are from Pakistan-based terror organization Lashkar-e-Toiba.

According to police, six LeT suspects including five Tamil Muslims from Sri Lanka have intruded into the state. They were last seen on August 21 evening at Coimbatore. One of them is of Pakistan origin and identified as Illyas Anwar. Coastal areas are under heightened surveillance.

It is learned a native of Kerala is helping the LeT operatives. He is employed in Bahrain and now is untraceable. The logistics support is being given by a resident of Thrissur.

Two teams of commando officers have been deployed in Coimbatore and Mettupalayam.

Kerala police has been put on exercising caution at public places and monitor every movement of the people.

It is learned security will be boosted up in religious places and districts that borders Tamil Nadu like Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki and Palakkad are to have stringent security checks.

Hindu temples across Kerala are celebriting Janmashtami, birth of Lord Krishna. Cultural organizations are taking out processions (shobha yatras) on roads. Huge crowds are being witnessed.
