Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) regretted the killing of six people in South Kashmir on Tuesday by suspected militants and said terrorism in the region is not just the problem of India, but of their and of international community too.
Naming Pakistan as source of terrorism in Kashmir the delegation of MEPs added briefing to Media that they are with India in the fight against terrorism and while finding a solution to the problem.
They criticized Pakistan as the situation of Christians there a matter of worry due to violance against the religion including the case of Asiya Bibi.
The press was briefed Wednesday in Srinagar by four parliamentarians – Bill Newton from the UK, Ryszard Czarnecki from Poland, Mariana Thierry from France and Henri Maloose from France.
The MEPs from around six countries further said they had interacted with politicians, women, youth and traders in the Valley, and would share the experience with their colleagues and respective countries back home.
The parliamentarians stressed situation in Kashmir is not as bad as thought and locals in the Valley want better life, peace and jobs.
They said, “Most terrorists killed in J&K have come from abroad, in fact they came from Pakistan. It is an international problem. All protests should be directed against terrorism.”
They added J&K is a dynamic place in terms of building tourism infrastructure, educational institutes and development projects.
The team concluded that situation of Kashmir is witnessed and they will prepare a report based on it.
