IPL – Shimron Hetmyer, Jaydev Unadkat fails to justify price tag

IPL - Shimron Hetmyer

Shimron Hetmyer from Guyana never looked comfortable even after getting enough opportunities to flourish by the Bengaluru franchise. In four games he managed scoring just fifteen runs and it is believed he is one of the reasons for the team’s initial roadblock in this season of Indian Premier League.

The youngster was earlier believed to be the next generation superstar for the Windies cricket. Being a powerful middle-order batsman, Shimron Hetmyer caught the attention of the world with his superlative hitting last year against India. He made 78-ball century with 6 sixes and scored 259 runs in five games.

In IPL 2019 auction he turned up as one of the hottest commodities and RCB embraced him for Rs 4.2 crores.

Similarly, Jaydev Unadkat showcased poor season in IPL 2019. He was purchased for Rs 8.4 crores by Rajasthan Royals. He has not repaid the faith shown on him. Playing eleven games he managed scalping only ten wickets, leaking runs at an economy of 10.5.

The left-arm pacer from Saurashtra has the ability to make the ball talk. In Ranji Trophy he had been a consistent performer and just before the IPL he became the second bowler to take 200 wickets for his domestic side.
