Instagram Launches IGTV App With Vertical Video Uploading Feature 1

Instagram has launched a rival product to YouTube. Called as IGTV, the self-broadcasting app will allow users to upload videos of up to one-hour long.

Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom said, “It’s time for video to move forward, and avolve. IGTV is for watching long-form videos from your favorite creators.”

He was addressing to the crowd while officially launching the product at an event held in San Francisco.

He said the IGTV will be a separate app having a brand new TV-shaped button above ‘Stories’ on the IG home-screen.

Currently the app cannot be used by those users who have relatively smaller follower-base and also those who will be making a new account. It will be like YouTube channel where Instagram users can follow content and subscribe too.

The CEO added further that IGTV will have content discovery algorithm to populate feed as per taste and interestes.

Users can also upload verticale videos on IGTV app, which will be available on both Android and iOS platforms.

Users can hyper link words and phrases in the description part of the videos.
