Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has a pleasant voice for team India playing the World Cup. He said the boys have strongest temperament.
Sanjay Manjrekar is one of the three voices hired by ICC for the World Cup. The other two are Harsha Bhogle and Sourav Ganguly.
The former batsman was earlier admired for the technical virtuosity of his batting. He was a better player than his batting figures. His average in Test career is 37.14. He finished with 2,043 runs.
Even though he wrapped up his playing career about two decades ago, but remained an avid observer of the tournaments including Indian Premier League.
Talking to The Hindustan news media Manjrekar said the current Indian squad is the best with immense temperament at the World Cup England and other teams cannot handle such pressure.
He praised pace bowler Navdeep Saini for his excellent performance in the IPL He talked about the talents of Khaleel Ahmed and Prasidh Krishna too. He said lots of exciting talents are coming up in India.
Manjrekar added Test cricket has become old-fashioned and it is difficult to connect the format with today’s fans. Even the broadcasters are not making money from Test format.
However, many loves Test cricket and it should be funded from T20, said the format player-turned-commentator.
He praised commentators Ian Bishop and Simon Doull and said they are the pillars of IPL coverage.
