China has “attempted to seize” control of the LAC with India “By Force” as part of its Territorial Aggression strategy, US NSA has said, amid the ongoing border standoff between India And China.
He further said that this shows that we should accept that dialogue and agreements will not persuade Beijing to change. He warned India about the intention of Beijing.
The US also said that the intentions of China are clear that it is not ready for disengagement. The PLA is there to stay, and dialogues will not make it change its stand. He also said that the people’s liberation army has also deployed heavy artillery and other sophisticated weapons along the border.
In yet another statement, the US also said that we stand with India against China. We will stand by the Side of India in any situation, and more comprehensive military cooperation between India and the US is needed.
Mike Pompeo warned India that China had deployed 60,000 troops along the border with India, which is a worrying sign for India.
These developments come when India and China are locked in a tense military standoff for the last five months. Both sides have concluded a series of high-level diplomatic and military meetings and talks to resolve the issue. However, no breakthrough was achieved from these talks among the two sides.
Amid India and China standoff, another worry for the Indian state is that Pakistan is also acting as China’s vessel state. In recent times, Pakistan is messing up its troops along the border with India, which have further deteriorated the situation. Pakistan has also deployed a surface-to-air missile defense system, which it bought from China.
These new developments in the situation amid the standoff have also led India to deploy troops along the border with Pakistan and China. India has also deployed its T-92 and T-72 battle tanks in the border areas. Other than these weapons Indian Military is preparing itself for a long standoff situation for which it is stocking up on supplies.
India has also deployed its air assets like Hercules Planes and Apaches to ward off any Chinese aggression. Other than this, the Indian side has also deployed the Brahmos Missiles along the Border with China, which is one of the world’s most advanced Hypersonic Cruise missiles.
PLA Deploying Troops On North Pangong Tso Amid Standoff
Another development in the India China Standoff about which the US has warned and provided intelligence inputs to India. The US and Indian Sides have assessed the situation and said that PLA has started to rotate its troops on the Pangong Tso’s Northern Banks. This shows that it is the same situation about what the US warned India; that China has no intent to de-escalate Ladakh’s standoff.
This development comes at a time when the next round of diplomatic and military talks are going to be held in Chushul. According to the sources that are aware of the situation, an additional military brigade on the northern side of Pangong Tso has been deployed by the PLA. The PLA’s deployment is seen as a morale booster for PLA troops that are there for a long deployment.
The new deployment has created new tension among the Indian side as it shows that the situation can flare-up anytime. Another problem for both sides is the deteriorating weather condition as the temperatures in these areas in winters goes as low as -40 degrees.
“Given that the Indian and Chinese military is deployed at the height of around 18,000 feet on the finger four and the weather is deteriorating. To cope up the PLA is rotating Troops to keep the troops deployed at front lines motivated and fresh. This shows clearly that PLA has no immediate plans for disengagement at least in the upcoming winter”, said a senior Indian official.
The analysis of the situation by the Indian side is that the comprehensive process of de-escalation is going to be a long-drawn process along with the risk of flare-up as the Chinese side may attempt some miss-adventure.
Amid the ongoing standoff between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, the stakes for both sides are high. Even amid the oncoming winter, both sides are fully prepared to stay deployed on the heights all along the 1,597 km long LAC. However, the Indian side, being prepared for the worse, is also hoping for a breakthrough like the comprehensive disengagement of 1995 after the nine long years of a standoff between the India-China in the Sumdorong Chu of the State of Arunachal Pradesh.
The new standoff between India and China has also put the other world powers on the toes as any flare-up between the two countries could escalate to a world conflict. For instance, the US has warned China against its policies and has said that it will stand by the Side of India if any conflict Arises.
