Imran Khan's Cabinet Bans First-Class Air Travel For Government Officials 1

Imran Khan’s new cabinet has banned first-class air travel for top officials of Pakistan and this is also relevant to the President and head of the government.

Decision of ban was taken in the second cabinet meeting on Friday and was presided by Khan himself. It is learned president, PM, chief justice, Senate chairman, National Assembly speaker and chief ministers of the country would not be allowed to fly in first-class on international flights with the tax payers’ money. All the officials would be allowed to travel either with business class or club class on official trips.

One of the primary reasons for the ban is that domestic flights do not offer such class and international operators charge very high fares, about three-hundred times more.

It is reported the newly elected prime minister Imran Khan too will be traveling on business-class for international destinations. He will not be taking his special plane, which will only be reserved for travels within Pakistan.

Earlier Khan said he will stay in the military secretary’s house instead of taking the Prime Minister House.

The secretary’s house is a three-bedroom apartment and the move is cited as a measure to cut down his own and Pakistan’s expenditure. Addressing to the nation for the first time after becoming PM he said wanted to live in his own house in Banigala but for security reasons he is not allowed.

The PM House has 524 servants and 80 cars.
