Imran Khan Sworn In As Next PM Of Pakistan 1

Former cricketer Imran Khan is the next prime minister of Pakistan. He sworn in as the new leader on Saturday in Islamabad.

In the lower hours of parliament Khan scrape3d a simple majority in a confidence vote and National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser said his party has secured 176 votes.

Earlier, to become the next prime minister of Pakistan and form government the Khan was reported to had approached MQM-P party for support. His pointman Jahangir Tareen invited former rival Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan to join with their party.

For decades the MQM-P has ruled the commercial hub Karachi and only grabbed six National Assembly seats (including two in Hyderabad) in the recent general elections. In 2013 polls the party had 24 NA seats.

The general elections in Pakistan were held on July 26 and political party of former cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), emerged victorious winning 116 of the 270 seats. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party of jailed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif won just 64 seats while 43 seats was grabbed by former president Asif Ali Zardari’s Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Khan invited Indian former cricketer and Punjab local bodies minister Navjot Sidhu for his swearing-in ceremony.

According to Sidhun the former cricketer-turned politician of neighboring country has invited him in a personal capacity.

Sidhu’s association with Khan was for more than three decades as a cricketer first and thereafter as a commentator.
