Guv dividing Hindu-Muslim with Citizenship Amendment Bill: Shiv Sena

The Narendra Modi government is the Centre is doing an invisible Hindu-Muslim partition with the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019, said Shiv Sena.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led party added that it is a mere vote bank politics and not being done in the interest of India.

In an editorial of Saamana, the mouthpiece of Shiv Sena, the party wrote, “There is no dearth of problems in India now but still we are inviting new ones such as CAB. It looks like the Centre has made an invisible partition of Hindus and Muslims over the bill.”

The party has eighteen parliamentarians in the lower house and it pointed out that most of the northeastern states along with Bihar have opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill even though BJP is sharing power with other parties in the regions.

The Sena made an appeal to PM Modi to take action against Pakistan, Bangladesh and other neighboring countries where the Hindus, being in minorities, are being tortured.

Meanwhile, there was wide protests from Opposition in the Lok Sabha while the bill was tabled.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly said the bill is not against the minorities and added that Congress divided the country on the basis of religion.

He added that the bill does not violate any Article of the Indian Constitution and no citizen in the country will be deprived of his or her rights.

Shah said, “Every citizen has been given place in the Bill on the basis of reasonable classification.”
