Who Are Vegans?
Those who abstain from meat are vegetarians. But without even taking products such as milk and yogurt from animals, survivors who depend solely on plants and leaves are vegan.
Animal rights lawyer Donald Watson created vegan from the word vegetarian. And founded The Vegan Society in 1944. The Vegan Society celebrates its 50th anniversary and holds World Vegan Day on November 1 each year since 1994. The month of November is being celebrated as Vegan Month.
There is no shortage of nutrients from vegan food. But many people question How do the nutrients reach the body? What is protein?
But the essential amino acids for the body are found in all greens and vegetables. Those who stay away from meat, milk, and dairy products can choose alternative products like tofu, almond milk, soybeans, coconut milk, and rice are being offered as alternatives. Cheese, mayonnaise, and even meat have been all replaced by plant-based meat, cheese, and mayonnaise.
Many people are investing in vegan-based startups because they know it is the future. The Bollywood couple Genelia and Ritesh Deshmukh have also invested heavily in plant-based meat and vegan products.
Animal love, plant conservation, and various other factors have contributed heavily for people to turn into vegans.
Veganism does not only come with advantages but also various disadvantages. A vegan diet is low in cholesterol and high in fiber, which can lead to heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, arthritis, lung and kidney disease. Weight loss will be followed by fatigue and constant tiredness.
Veganism is growing in popularity every year. Around the world, many celebrities in our country have now become vegans.
Bollywood stars like Aamir Khan, Genelia, Ritesh Deshmukh, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, etc, and Hollywood celebs like Natalie Portman, Liam Hemsworth, Zac Efron, Benedict Cumberbatch, Mayim Bialik, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and others.
5 percent of the world’s population are vegetarians. Half of that is vegans. No meat has been sold every Monday in Los Angeles since 2012 as part of the No Meet policy. In 2020, KFC produced the first vegan burger and Dominos also started serving plant-based meat pizza in Delhi, a first for India.
