Millions of people saw how George Floyd breathed his last under the knees of the Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
Cases have been filed under three different sections against Derek Chauvin, the ex-police officer who was extremely cruel to George Floyd.
He may face up to 40, 25, and 10 years in prison under various sections
The George Floyd incident in Minneapolis took place last year, which was marred by police violence against the black race shook the superpower nation America.
George Floyd was arrested on May 25 last year by a Minneapolis police officer on suspicion of using a counterfeit bill.
Floyd was knocked down by Derek Chauvin a white police officer of Minneapolis, he derailed on Floyd’s neck with his knee for a long time.
Derek did not feel sorry for Floyd, who told him he was out of breath and was pleading him to leave and was calling out for his mother.
Floyd was later rushed to a hospital, the people in the ambulance reported that Floyd was not breathing when he was carried into the ambulance, but he was pronounced dead in the hospital later.
The whole event went viral as people present in the scene took the videos of assault against the black man and shared them on the internet.
U.S. citizens were outraged by the incident. Millions of them took to the streets demanding justice for George Floyd’s death and marching for the “Black Lives Matter” and against the racist culture and the white supremacy in the country.
The army and forces entered the field to ensure the riots dint go out of hand as there were incidents of shoplifting, police stations and vehicles were burned and public property harm was done.
Authorities took action against three other police officers, Alexander Keung, Thomas Lane, and Tou Thao, and charged a case against them for aiding such a brutal act and suspended all of them with serious allegations charged against Derek Chauvin.
Millions of people around the world took to the streets to protest against racism. Protests erupted in European countries, Britain, Australia, and many other places against the incident.
Floyd’s family members have filed a civil rights lawsuit in court over his death. Three police officers, including the Minneapolis administration, were named as suspects.
A second-degree murder and manslaughter case has been filed and Derek Chauvin,44, the police officer responsible for the incident may also face a third-degree murder charge.
The Minneapolis authority stepped down from the lawsuit and said they provide appropriate justice for false death with pre-settlement and have offered to pay $ 27 million in damages to George Floyd’s family.
Minnesota lawyers reported the matter to Floyd’s family on Friday.
Floyd’s family members said on the occasion that Floyd had been unjustly killed by the police and that this was a good lesson for them.
Prosecutors say it is the largest pre-trial settlement in civil rights cases in U.S. history.
The local authorities persuaded Floyd’s family to settle out of court and have agreed to pay compensation of 27 million dollars which is approximately Rs 196 crore as redress.
Floyd’s brother Rodney responded to the deal. He said he would think a little harder if he no longer resorted to white tyranny against black lives.
Floyd Family Lawyer Ben Crump said justice had been done for the wrongful death.
He said it was the largest pre-trial settlement in superpower history.
‘George Floyd’s horrific death, witnessed by millions of people around the world, brought about a strong desire for justice, change, and an irresistible demand,’ said Floyd’s family lawyer Ben Crump.
“The biggest pre-trial solution in a false death case is to witness the life of a black man. It sends a powerful message that police brutality against blacks must end,” Crump said.
