Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti warned today the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), without naming any member or minister, not to make any attempt to break her People’s Democratic Party (PDP) or else the aftermath would be serious consequences.
She said, “If Delhi, tries to dismiss the voting rights of people like 1987, if it tries to create divisions and interfere like that then I think just like a Salahuddin and a Yasin Malik were born in 1987… if it tries to break PDP like that then outcomes will be dangerous.”
Mufti made a direct warning to BJP with her statement but the saffron party reacted saying “Delhi joins, not breaks.”
Adding further the BJP said PDP leader glorifies separatists like Salahuddin and a Yasin Malik by also dubbing them as political heroes.
Mufti ended the ties of her party with BJP earlier and later clarified saying Delhi was attempting to engineer defections in her party.
Meanwhile, BJP’s general secretary Ram Madhav rejected all the allegations that his party has been working to form a government with the support of rebel MLAs.
BJP and PDP shared power for about three years in Jammu and Kashmir before the coalition was pulled by the saffron owing to the former’s soft posturing towards separatists and stone-pelters.
Governor’s Rule was thereafter imposed in the state.
