Pakistan’s Tehereek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has now formally invited Indian former cricketer and Punjab local bodies minister Navjot Sidhu for his swearing-in ceremony as the next Prime Minister of Pakistan.
According to Sidhun the former cricketer-turned politician of neighboring country has invited him in a personal capacity.
He added Imran Khan made a phone call to him on Friday and they had talked for couple of minutes and there were congratulation and conveying of best wishes in between.
Sidhu further said he on his part has forwarded the formal invitation to the union government for perusal.
Khan’s secretariat wrote in the invitation, “It’s indeed a great pleasure to have invited you for the oath-taking ceremony of PTI’s Chairman Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The event will be held in Islamabad on Saturday, August 18, 2018. We would want you to kindly grace this historic occasion with your presence.”
Sidhu’s association with Khan was for more than three decades as a cricketer first and thereafter as a commentator.
Sidhu said former Indian Cricketer team captain Kapil Dev too has been invited for the oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan.
He mentioned Khan has the ability to lead from the front and it would be new beginning in the relationship of India and Pakistan after he becomes the prime minister.
PTI emerged victorious winning 116 of the 270 seats. About ten crore people were registered voters and in the 70 years of Pakistan’s history this is the second time people experienced democratic transition of power.
