A FIR has been lodged against Mumbai-based Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami and two others, Niteish Sarda of Smartworks and Feroz Shaikh of IcastX/Skimedia, allegedly abetting suicide of an interior designer Anvay Naik in Alibaug, near Mumbai.
The case has been filed based on the suicide note of Naik and complaint by his wife, who claimed Republic TV had not cleared the dues that led to severe losses in business for her husband.
Meanwhile, a statement released by Republic TV claims the move is a false propaganda against the organization citing all the dues as per the contract were paid.
Mentioning thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim the statement added, “Republic TV… had engaged the services of one Concorde Designs Private Limited sometime in December 2016. All amounts due and payable under the contract were paid.”
Naik was found hanging from a ceiling fan on Saturday morning. He lived in the first floor and in the ground floor body of his mother was found.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Raigad) Sanjay Patil said, “An FIR has been registered against Arnab Goswami of Republic TV, Feroz Shaikh of IcastX/Skimedia and Niteish Sarda of Smartworks, on the charge of abetment to suicide at Alibaug police station on a complaint by Akshata, the wife of the deceased.”
