Fear of the second wave hovering as India sees nearly 87,000 Covid-19 cases this week

Covid-19 Lockdown

The Covid-19 pandemic is booming again in Maharashtra. The government has further tightened sanctions in the state.

Minister Yashomathi Thakur announced that a weekly lockdown will be implemented from 8 pm on Monday in the Yavatmal district, which has the highest corona impact.

The lockdown will be implemented from 23 in Akola, Murtijapur, Akot, and other towns in Akola district, officials said.

Night curfew was imposed in Nagpur, Amravati, Buldana, Washim, Pune, and Nashik districts. Corona cases doubled on weekdays in the state. 3,365 cases were registered on the 15th and 6,071 cases on the 21st.

However, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said the decision on whether to impose a lockdown in Maharashtra again was in the hands of the people.

He urged people to not step out without a face mask to prevent the spread of the virus. Commented that it is our weapon to fight against the virus.

If the rules are not followed, the lockdown will be implemented as a last resort. Those who want a lockdown shall need not follow the covid-19 rules.

The CM announced that all political, social, and charitable activities in the state would be canceled for a few days from Monday. He warned that strict action would be taken if the rules were violated.

Fear of the covid-19 second wave is booming in India. It is a matter of concern that 14,264 cases were registered across the country in the 24 hours from Saturday morning to Sunday morning.

86,711 cases were reported during the week. With this, the number of active cases is fast approaching 50 lakhs. This accounts for 1.32 percent of the total cases.

The number of covid-19 cases is increasing in Maharashtra, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Punjab rapidly.

New Covid-19 Strain Highly Dangerous: AIIMS Chief

AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria said the new Indian coronavirus strain found in Maharashtra is extremely dangerous.

Despite the presence of antibodies in the system, infection of this new strain is a cause of concern as it can re-infect the people who have developed the antibodies against the virus.

In recent years, many people have come to speculate that herd immunity has been achieved as new cases of corona have not been reported so much. But in a country as densely populated as India, herd immunity is not a feasible task.

While speaking to NDTV Guleria also added He said if 80 % of the population had antibodies, everyone would be safe.

The Major Reason For The Rapid Spread Is The Negligence Of The People.

Health experts are outraged that public negligence is to blame for the spate of cases in Maharashtra.

Dr. Sanjay Oak, who heads the Corona Task Force, said cases were on the rise due to not wearing masks and not following physical distance. He said cases could not be settled if people did not abide by the covid-19 rules.

Vaccination Should Be Expedited

The central government has written to the states believing that vaccination is the only way to eradicate the coronavirus.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written a letter to the Chief Secretaries of all the states urging them to expedite the vaccination process in view of the severity of the coronavirus spread.

Secretary Bhushan urged the vaccination program to be conducted at least four days a week and added that the vaccination for senior citizens should start in the coming months.
