UGC Net is the perfect way for those who want to take steps towards research by completing traditional, technical, and professional courses at the PG level. The test is administered jointly by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the UGC twice a year. The application process for the June – 2021 session has recently started.
Combined for two sessions
NTA UGC has announced some changes on the net this time. The NTA said the December-2020 session and the June-2021 session would be held jointly. Due to corona. December – 2020 session postponed. There was also a delay in the conduct of the June – 2021 session. The two sessions will be held jointly. That is .. Candidates for the December – 2020 session may also attend the June – 2021 session.
Examination in 81 subjects
UGC Net will be held in a total of 81 subject areas. These include subjects such as Economics, History, Human Rights and Duties, Arts and Humanities such as Indian Culture, Linguistics, as well as professional subjects such as Computer Science, Criminology and Management. Eligibility to attend the respective papers will be by the specialization studied at the PG level.
Qualifications
► Eligibility: Must have passed at least 55% marks in the relevant PG (Post Graduation). Five percent relaxation for reserved category candidates.
Candidates studying in PG final year can also apply.
Age limit: JRF candidates should not exceed 31 years as of October 1, 2021. OBC-NCL and other reserved category candidates will get five years of relaxation within the maximum age limit.
There is no maximum age limit for Assistant Professor candidates.
UGC Net in two categories
UGC-Net is classified into two categories. They are .. Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship, and Assistant Professor. Candidates should make it clear at the time of application which category they want to appear for the examination. For example. Research candidates .. Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor should be selected on a priority basis. If only the Assistant Professor category is desired .. it is sufficient to select the Assistant Professor preference. Candidates will be asked questions based on their selection criteria.
Computer Based Test
The UGC-NET exam is conducted in an objective manner in an online system (computer-based test).
There are two papers in this examination which is conducted for a total of three hundred marks .. Paper1, Paper2.
Candidates must be Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship, and Assistant Professor for Paper-1.
► Paper – 1 consists of 50 questions – 100 marks on Teaching / Research Aptitude. That is .. two marks are allotted for each question.
► Paper – 2 .. Examination for the subject selected by the candidates based on their PG Specialization.
► Paper – 2 consists of 100 questions –200 marks from the relevant subject Paper.
► The duration of the test is three hours.
Minimum qualifying marks
Minimum qualifying marks are required in UGC Net. General category candidates should get 40% marks in both the papers combined and reserved category candidates should get 35% marks.
To succeed in the NET JRF and Assistant Professor categories, which select only six percent of the finalists, candidates need to be interested in research and hold on to the relevant subject.
Paper1: Interest, Awareness
Paper-1 contains questions that examine the teaching and research interests and understanding of the candidates. Questions arise from a total of ten sections. Mainly Teaching, Research, Aptitude, Reading, Comprehension, Communication, Reasoning, Logical Ability, Data Interpretation, Information and Communication Technology, People and Environment, Higher Education System, Governance, and Policy.
Paper 2: Subject Questions
The questions in Paper-2 are at the level of the PG Specialization Syllabus. Therefore, candidates should be aware of all the subjects from Intermediate to PG about the subject of their choice. Application Orientation, Practice on the respective topics
Should be read with a calm approach. Although the exam is in Objective mode .. Questions are asked to test Practical Thinking, Application Orientation while answering the questions. Similarly, it is useful to adopt a critical thinking and analytical approach. The result is a readiness to answer questions no matter what.
