Every Countries Should Have Data Policy Like Reliance Jio: Netflix CEO 1

Mobile and data service provides across all the country need to take a cue from Reliance Jio Infocomm, said Netflix CEO Reed Hastings.

Reliance Jio launched its services in India in September 2016 and since then the cost of high-speed internet browsing has come down massively. Internet ha become more accessible at lower prices and people have started using it more, added the boss of world’s largest online video streaming company.

He further continued that India can contribute content to global audience and take original series to international markets.

Meanwhile, the company has announced seven local series here in the country with entirely Indian production team and the first venture is Scared Games, featuring Saif Ali Khan.

Presently Netflix, Hotstar, Amazon and several other video streaming services are competing against more than two dozens Indian rivals, which are mostly of sports and local-language general entertainment niches.

Hastings said, “India is very, very relevant to us with thousands of years of storytelling and incredible film traditions.”

Netflix has 120 million global subscribers and last year it made a revenue of $11.7 billion. The company entered India in 2016 and Amazon launched the same here the next year.

In India Netflix subscriptions start at Rs 500 a month while Amazon charges Rs 999 for the same period.
