Regardless of celebrating festivals or not people are making full use of the big sales offered by the e-commerce platforms. Every year during the festival time e-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal pours huge offers to celebrate the Dussehra festive season.
Considering it is once a year sale people are rushing to make a purchase not wanting to miss the discount offered by the shopping platforms. However, this time the high demand is coming from Tier 3 cities unlike the Tier 1 cities.
The e-commerce companies said that they have received huge orders from cities like Dhanbad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Gorakhpur, Chittoor, Kurnool, Guntur, and Vizag.
Market experts say the domestic economy is recovering. Nearly half of the orders were received by tier-3 cities during the sale of shopping portals.
Most purchases were done in electronics such as televisions and laptops. One out of every five customers who shopped, bought a smartphone.

During the first few days of the festival sale, cities like Patna, Lucknow, and Vizag competed with other metro cities. More than half of all orders are now coming from Tier-3 cities. “Categories such as mobiles, electronics, lifestyle, general merchandising, home decore are in high demand,” a Flipkart spokesperson told the media.
On the other side, the e-commerce giant Amazon stated that its sellers saw a 61% increase in the year. they gave a number of 21% sales jump in tier 2 and 3 cities and 16% in tier 1 cities.
Prime subscription is also in high demand. Two out of three customers are signing up for prime during the festive season and most of them are from tier 2 and 3 cities according to Manish Tiwary, the Vice President, Amazon India.
Snapdeals spokesperson also stated that they have been seen significant orders flowing in from tier 2 and 3 cities.
If last years’ competition was high for the e-commerce festival season this years’ look further away. People from tiers 2 and 3 are scaling up the sales for e-commerce companies.
The pandemic has turned people into digital means and the adoption of digital services has been quicker and larger than ever before.
