Discovering Puerto Cabopino on the Marbella Coast in Andalucia

Puerto Cabopino is signposted off the coastal A7 road just 12 kms from Marbella and 14 kms from Fuengirola. However, the majority of holidaymakers drive straight past without a thought of the marina and lovely beach they are missing.

Puerto Cabopino is located just within the municipality of Marbella and fortunately has not suffered with overdevelopment as other resorts along the coast Low rise and attractive properties have been built to compliment the landscape of pine woods and plenty of green areas and gardens have been created to make Puerto Cabopino a very attractive and desirable location.

Puerto Cabopino Marina

The Marina has quality restaurants surrounding he quayide that are open from morning till night. They offer a wide choice for the diner, including Spanish, Chinese, Italian and international styles. Wonderful paellas and fresh fish are always available and when illuminated at night the area comes to life creating an attractive venue for dinner and a stroll.

The marina’s entrance is 60m wide with a depth of 2.5m and to date there are around 170 moorings from 8m to 16m in length. The boatyard is small but busy and the moorings are always full of fine looking craft. Visitors can also walk along the outer harbour walls to see the fishing boats and larger craft moored there.

The Long Safe Beach Attracts Many Visitors

The sweeping Cabopino beach is child friendly and has all the facilities necessary with restaurants, chiringuitos (beach bars), sunbeds and shades for hire. A protected area of rolling sand dunes form a backdrop to this long beach that is shielded from winds and strong tides. For extra safety a life guard is on duty during the summer months.

Strolling along the beach is a pleasant way to pass an hour or two and the views of Marbella overlooked by the mighty Sierra Blanca are amazing. To the west of the Cabopino beach is the Playa de las Dunas – Carib and this is an official nudist beach backed by sand dunes and pines.

For a change from the beach the marina offers sailing courses, a variety of watersports, dolphin watching and deep sea fishing trips. Pedalos can be hired from the main beach.

Cabopino Marbella golf course is located on the north side of the coastal road in a spectacular setting with views down to the sea. Equipment hire and lessons are available here.

Accommodation Near Puerto Cabopino

Several agents offer rental apartments and villas in the surrounding areas.

As an alternative, Cabopino Camping nestles in the pinewoods on the north side of the main A7 coastal road. Spacious and well laid out, the site is open all year round with tent, mobile home and bungalow accommodation available. The site is well equipped with two swimming pools, bars, restaurants, a mini market, children’s entertainment and many sporting facilities.

Hotel accommodation can be found 10 minutes drive east in the seaside town ofLa Cala de Mijas where the 4* Gran Hotel is located. Otherwise a short drive west are the 3* Artola and 4* Las Chapas Hotels and a few minutes further on is the 5* Don Carlos at Elviria.

Marbella of course has a huge choice of hotels to suit all pockets. Nearby on Mijas Costa are the residential and commercial areas of Calahonda and Riviera del Sol. Both have lively shopping areas, plenty of bars, restaurants and good beach facilities.

Puerto Cabopino has Something to Offer Everyone

For a relaxing day on the beach, a speedboat ride from the marina and a really good lunch overlooking the quayside Cabopino on the Costa del Sol is hard to beat.
