Dhoni's safety while serving Army is not a concern: Gen. Rawat

The safety concern for cricketer MS Dhoni on his patrolling, guard and post duty to serve Territorial Army unit of the Parachute Regiment has been answered by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat.

The Army Chief said he believes former Indian cricket captain does not need protection performing his duties in the Kashmir Valley with his battalion.

Talking to a media house Bipin Rawat added, “When a citizen of India wants to don the military uniform then he has to also be prepared to fulfill the task for which the uniform has been assigned to him. MS Dhoni has carried out his basic training and we know that he will be able to accomplish the task.”

The General further said that in fact the wicketkeeper-batsman will be protecting others as he will be performing with the 106 Territorial Army battalion (Para), which is a battalion that performs line of comminication duties and static protection.

Bipin Rawat continued saying Dhoni will be undertaking patrolling, guard and post duty responsibilities, and he will be living like any other soldier while being a part of the army.

Following the World Cup Dhoni came under scrutiny and it was speculated he may take retirement from international cricket.

Amid such scrutiny and speculations Dhoni’s decision to serve the Indian Army came to news.
