Delhi government directed Thursday closure of all primary schools in Delhi with immediate effect and until March 31.
Delhi deputy chief minister Manisha Sisodia said all the primary schools run by government, civic and private bodies will be closed as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
So far thirty positive coronavirus disease cases have been reported in India including sixteen Italian tourists.
In a tweet Sisodia said, “As a precautionary measure to prevent the possibility of spread of COVID-19 amongst our children, Delhi Government has directed immediate closure of all primary schools (Govt/ aided/ private/MCD/NDMC) till 31/3/20.”
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) meanwhile has asked all its schools to create awareness among the children about how to prevent getting infected like proper hand wash and respiratory etiquettes.
CBSE said these preventive measures will help in minimizing the transmission of diseases like coronavirus.
The Board exams are in process and now the students are allowed to carry face masks as well as sanitizers at exam centres.
India saw a big jump in number of coronavirus cases on Wednesday and so preventive measures have been stepped up like visitors from certain countries including China, South Korea, Japan, Iran and Italy are not allowed to enter the country. However, the norms are not allowed for diplomats and officials from international bodies.
Indians are also being advised not to travel to Italy, South Korea, Iran and China. People are being discouraged to travel to these countries if the travel is not so essential.
