Delhi court issued Tuesday death warrant to all the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case of 2012.
Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora issued the warrant adding that the four will be executed on January 22 at 7 am in Tihar jail.
The court said all the convicts have fourteen days to use their legal remedies. Lawyer for the convicts AP Singh said a curative petition will be filed in the Supreme Court.
Mother of rape and murder victim said, “My daughter has got justice. Execution of the 4 convicts will empower the women of the country. This decision will strengthen the trust of people in the judicial system.”
The four convicts are Mukesh, Akshay Singh, Vinay Sharma and Pawan Gupta.
During the hearing the prosecution claimed no application was pending at any court or even at the president by any of the convicts.
The prosecution further added that Supreme Court had earlier dismissed the review petition of all the convicts.
Meanwhile, mother of convict Mukesh Singh pleaded at Nirbhaya’s mother asking to forgive her son.
Nirbhaya’s mother replied she had a daughter and she cannot forget what had happened to her.
After the hearing Nirbhaya’s mother said to media that the death verdict will strengthen people’s trust in the judicial system and January 22 will be a big day for everyone.
It is learned the four convicts will be kept in separate cells and to be allowed meeting just one family member.
