The Coronavirus vaccination process is now in full swing not only across India but worldwide. Except for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the vaccination process has started for 18 years too. These states have currently reserved the vaccine for those over 45 years due to the vaccination shortage. All those who took the first dose did not get their hands on the second dose and are still waiting for their second dose of vaccination to be completed.
However, during this vaccination drive, people are confused about the vaccines. Currently, three types of vaccines available in the country. That is Covishield, jointly developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca manufactured by the Serum Institute of India. Covaxin manufactured by Bharat Biotech International Ltd., Hyderabad, in association with the National Institute of Virology (Pune), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). These two vaccines have been used widely, and apart from these, Sputnik V, a Russian-made vaccine that has been patented by The Reddy’s Lab, has come to the market. Unlike the first two vaccines, Sputnik V is a single shot covid-19 vaccination.
Effects of The Vaccines
According to various analyzes, the three vaccines are all effective. However, it is reported that there are slight differences in the performance of these three vaccines.
Covaxin has an 81.6 percent effect on the coronavirus. The Covishield effect marks up to 70 – 90 percent. However, the effect of the vaccine mainly depends on the gap between the two doses.
When it comes to the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine, it is reported to have an effect of 97.6 percent. The Sputnik V is availably very rarely, and the Reddy’s Lab has announced that it would take at least six months to provide Sputnik V for mass vaccination.
And currently, the Indian Government has not given people the option of choosing the vaccine. They are given the vaccine based on availability and are supposed to take two shots of the same vaccine.
The covid-19 vaccine is mandatory for everyone, but due to the sudden surge of the virus and the shortage of vaccines, the vaccination drive had seen a bit of a hurdle; however, the Government and the vaccine manufacturers are effectively vaccinating people.
The vaccine produces a complete scope of antibodies in the body. Shielding you from the virus and creating a good immune system. People who have taken their vaccinations are also tested positive for the virus, but they are said to have only a minor infection, not damaging your lung and helping a quick recovery from coronavirus. And if you get infected after taking the first dose. Take the second dose two weeks after recovery with a doctor’s prescription. And if you are infected without getting the vaccine, you have to take the vaccine after 28 days of your recovery after doctors’ consultation and remember not to mix up the vaccines; take the one which you have taken in the first dose.
There are side effects of taking any of the above vaccines. You might have a fever, headache, arthritis, fatigue, and sore throat for at least two days. But they are minor, and you do not have to worry under current circumstances. It is very vital to get vaccinated, book your slot through the Cowin app or website and wait for your turn. Meanwhile, do not forget to wear your mask and to maintain social distancing.
