Maharashtra government formation is still being awaited and all eyes will be on the meeting of Congress and NCP on Wednesday over alliance with the Shiv Sena. It is expected both the parties are to discuss the modalities of a possible alliance.
Shiv Sena meanwhile seems optimistic and its leader Sanjay Raut claimed today the government would be in place by first week of December.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will be addressing a meeting of all its MLAs and senior leaders on Friday and to discuss on way forward for the party.
Shiv Sena is ideologically opposite to Congress and NCP. Among myriad of issues to be discussed the two parties are to decide on naming of their likley alliance. They are not comfortable with the name Maha Shiv Aghadi.
The NCP and Congress alliance is named as Aghadi, which means front. While the Shiv Sena-BJP-RPID and other smaller parties are named as Mahayuti, which means the grand alliance.
The NCP and Congress were supposed to meet on Tuesday but it was called off due to pre-occupation of Congress leaders on the day of Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
Both the parties have deputed leaders to hold talks and explore the possibility of an alliance in forming the Maharashtra government by joining hands with Shiv Sena.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar had a meeting with Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi on Monday but refused to comment anything on it.
Maharashtra went into polls on October 21. No single party has achieved complete majority to form government on its own. The BJP-Shiv Sena alliance didn’t work and currently the state is under President’s rule.
