Congress failed to handle IPL with elections in 2009, 2014: Modi 1

India’s favorite tournament, the Indian Premier League, is simultaneously being held with Lok Sabha elections, but the same was not possible during the rule of Congress.

Addressing to a rally in Rajasthan the Prime Minister said the Congress-led government had not courage to handle IPL and elections simultaneously.

In 2009 and 2014 the tournament could not be played in India. IPL was taken in South Africa.

Modi added, “In 2009 and 2014 they said there’s election. Police is busy so we cannot have IPL. Elections are going on even now. There was Navratri, Ramnavmi and Hanuman Jayanti too. Ramzan will be here soon. But IPL is going on in the country.”

He said the Congress government was scared while his government is standing tall.

Over security reasons the IPL was shifted out of India in 2009. Similarly some of the matches in 2014 too were shifted out.

IPL is massively popular in India and especially among the youth.

Meanwhile, lead sponsorer Vivo is learned to have sold more than double of its mobile units in the first quarter compared to the same period in 2018.

It posted annual growth of 108.2 percent between Q1 2018 and Q1 2019.

Vivo spent about $315 million to sponsor IPL from 2018 to 2022.
