Earlier, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had filed an FIR with Delhi Police over the report.

UIDAI Deputy Director BM Patnak said the input was received from The Tribune newspaper citing a purchase service was being offered by anonymous sellers of getting unrestricted access to any of over 1 billion Aadhaar numbers.

In the FIR the name of the report has been mentioned who reached to one of such sellers to get access to Aadhaar data against payment. The journalist and others are not shown as accused.

Congress questioned the intentions of center on privacy issues.

Surjewala added, “Intent, & ‘Intentions’ of Modi Govt on Privacy were thoroughly exposed when it had proclaimed that no citizen can have an absolute right over his/her body.”

Citing further such quotes he mentioned the Modi Govt had accepted in Supreme Court about Aadhaar data leak.

Meanwhile, Congress leader P Chidambaram tweeted the muscular and militaristic approach has failed in Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
