Colts quarterback Andrew Luck bids adieu to professional football at 29

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is bidding adieu to professional football. He surprised everyone Saturday in a postgame press conference announcing officially his retirement at the age of just 29.

Andrew Luck was one of the highest-paid NFL players but his constant injuries have lost the love for the game.

An ankle injury left him absent this pre-season training. Earlier he suffered a torn abdomen, torn cartilage in two ribs, a torn labrum, a concussion and a lacerated kidney.

According to Colts football team owner Jim Irsay, the player made about $100 million in past seven-year career and with is retirement announcement he would be missing about $500 million.

Addressing to the media Andrew Luck said, “I haven’t been able to live the life I want to live. It’s taken the joy out of this game… the only way forward for me is to remove myself from football… This is not an easy decision. It’s the hardest decision of my life. But it is the right decision for me.”

Andrew Luck said his mindset has been changed and he lacks similar enthusiasm for the game that he earlier had due to constant injuries.

Meanwhile, it is learned Andrew Luck is expecting his first child from wife Nicole. He may return to Europe, the place where he had spent most of his childhood.
