New trouble for SBI customers! Chinese hackers are reportedly targeting State Bank of India (SBI) customers and launching cyber-attacks on them. It is learned that hackers are sending a website link to clients to update KYC. In addition, WhatsApp messages are being circulated to the bank’s customers, asking them to own 50 lakh worth of gifts.
If you reply to the messages sent by hackers, that’s it; you’re done. They gain full access to your accounts and steal all your information. Cybersecurity officials have warned that they are not only robbing customers’ data but also stealing money from their accounts.
Two such incidents certain smartphone users faced were researched on behalf of SBI in the New Delhi-based think tank CyberPeace Foundation together with Autobot Infosec Pvt Ltd.
It was learned that SBI was sending its customer to upgrade their KYC through messages to their registered phone numbers asking them to verify. Opening this message will direct you to a website similar to the official SBI Online Site page. The team found that hackers were collecting clients’ personal details as soon as they enter the sent OTP to the user’s mobile number.

They could request the customers to record personal information, and further, the website also offers a banner saying that a short survey can win 50 lakh rupees.
The website was found to be fake because it was being used by the third person rather than the SBI serves. If the website did not work, the hackers are also sending messages on WhatsApp offering attractive gifts to their customers.
The research team issued a statement. Saying all the domains involved in the campaign were registered in China.
Apart from SBI users, IDFC, PNB, IndusInd, and Kotak Bank are also alleged to be involved in phishing scams.
In March this year, a research team concluded that SBI was engaged in a phishing scandal targeting customers.
SBI has not yet confirmed the fake website and hackers, but all online banking and wallet users of every bank have been warned and asked to restrain information from hackers and other websites.
