Chhapaak, the name itself is trending for past two days. It is a movie trailer starring Deepika Padukone, who is playing the role of acid attack survivor Malti, whose real name is Laxmi Agarwal.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak is a women-centric film and Deepika Padukone is garnering immense appreciation from people in India as well as abroad. English author, activist and acid attack survivor Katie Piper too praised her. She has written a note of appreciation mentioning it “took her breath away.”
Deepika has co-produced Chhapaak under her banner named Ka productions with Fox Star Studios. She retweeted Katie’s post saying, “Thank You so much for your shout out Katie and I look forward to meeting you sometime soon.”
Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel praised the Chhapaak teaser. She too is an acid attack survivor.
The movie shows incredible journey of Malti since 2005, when she was attacked at the age of just 15, and how she had battled the odds to come out of the deadliest tragedy in life.
During the release of Chhapaak teaser Deepika and her co-star Vikrant Massey were in tears. She said this will be the most special film in her career.
Interacting with media Vikrant said Deepika is one of the finest co-actors in his acting career and he had a nice experience working with her.
Chhapaak will be hitting the theaters on 10 January 2020.
