Central China Floods Kill 25, China Blasts Dam To Divert Flood

Central China has been flooded for the past few days due to heavy rains. Large-scale floods have occurred due to heavy rains. The city of Zhengzhou is in a dreadful situation.

China floods are unusual. The rains in Hainan Province are heavy than ever before. Never has China experienced such a huge rainfall or flood.

 The city received 457.5 mm of rain on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological Department, there has not been this much rain in the last 1000 years.

Troops are trying to rescue about a million people in Henan Province. In many cities in the state, water reached the streets as well as the subway tunnel, from which water flowed into the incoming train.

As of Wednesday, approximately 200,000 inhabitants had been evacuated by soldiers led rescue efforts in Zhengzhou, a city of more than 10 million people, where days of rain had inundated the streets and subway.

Videos and images circulated on the internet showed how passengers were clinging on to the railings with water until their necks hanging for their lives. The passengers took the videos of how the water level started to rise 12 people were killed, and 500 were rescued, officials said. Many were trapped on the train.

In a Weibo post on Wednesday, local officials noted that the capital of Zhengzhou “went through a series of uncommon and severe rains and accumulated water in the metro.”

Electricity and Communication wires in many parts of the country were damaged as the roads started to flood like rivers.

 All the inland areas are inundated. Vehicles parked on the roads were all floating and were clustered in the regions. The Met Office said there was a possibility of rain for another few days. 

A video of a woman holding onto a rope against the solid flowing water has terrified and showed how crucial the situation is in China.

Schools and hospitals were all cut off due to the water. On Tuesday, many kids who were trapped in the kindergarten were rescued by the firefighters.

The first affiliated hospital in the city lost all power, including the backup with 7000 beds in the facility; more than 600 ill patients were transferred to other hospitals due to an emergency.

As the death toll rose to 25, China’s army tried to take hold of the situation by blasting the dam to direct water flow elsewhere in one of the most affected provinces.

The highways and roads were blocked by water, subways and ventilators in the hospital were all shut down.
