It’s not a terrorist attack. Official sources have confirmed.
A commuter bus ploughed into a subway walkway Monday in Russian capital city Moscow at
around 3:50 p.m. local time killing four and injuring 11 others.
Driver of the bus has been arrested and it is not being considered as deliberate attack. Footage on social media shows the vehicle careened down stairs.
It is believed either the bus driver lost control or the bus malfunctioned.
State media reports, “The driver was detained and the authorities instituted a criminal case citing the services falling short of security requirements and encroachments on the safety regulations for public transport.”
A Russian media reported the bus started moving on its own while being at the bus stop and the braking system malfunctioned.
However, a statement from the bus manufacturer said it is highly possible the driver didn’t engage the braking systems of the vehicle.
The GAZ Group statement reads, “A preliminary analysis of the details of the incident shows that at the beginning of the movement the wheels of the bus were sharply turned to the right and the bus was moving with a significant deviation from the route.”
It further adds the bus is guaranteed to have been stopped if the listed brake system was used.
